This charming cushion is block-printed with our emblem, an earthbound & celestial plough contained within a double border. The motif alludes to the work the artist craftsman does: engaging both body and soul, the real world and the dream world, in the act of creation.
The image - printed in Old gold linseed pigment on a beautiful and appropriately earthy brown linen (woven in Ireland) - sits on a raised patch, stitched by hand, which echoes the shape of the printed double border. The body of the cushion, in brown & blue stripes (from the same linen mill), provides a joyful contrast - and, given the context, suggests ploughed furrows or a tilled field. The piece is finished with a piped edge and a vertical rear sleeve, and comes with a generous feather-filled pad.
The cushion would sit well on an old wooden desk chair, or on a favourite seat in a workshop or studio.
