* One-of-a-kind patchwork bag created from panels of 1800s and 1900s laundered agricultural grain sacks. The robust panels, which make up the bag’s face and rear, are irregularly shaped and sized to echo the mosaic character of our local landscape. Varying in tone, they are juxtaposed artfully.

* Front, rear and sides are beautified by original stencilling, all in black. Along with the block-printed Bonfield emblem - an earthbound and celestial plough within a double border - a lovely No. 5, the date 1896, a name and an original mend adorn the bag’s face and sides. On the back sits more type, rendered in contrasting Gothic and C20th styles.

* Fully lined in a delightful brown & blue striped Irish linen.

* Internal pocket.

* Heavy-duty, antiqued brass zip closure - with suitably agricultural baling twine zip pull.

* Shoulder strap is a repurposed antique belt in chestnut brown - which we’ve fed - dating from the 1930s/40s. It’s likely to be military in origin, and comes with a very pleasing, original brass buckle. The strap is fixed length, and was stitched into place using waxed linen thread.

* Dimensions: Height - 58.5cm, Length - 52cm, Depth - 7.5cm
