* One-of-a-kind patchwork bag created from panels of 1800s and 1900s laundered agricultural grain sacks. The robust panels, which make up the bag’s face and rear, are irregularly shaped and sized to echo the mosaic character of our local landscape. Varying in tone, they are juxtaposed artfully, and we’ve incorporated some raw, raised edges.
* Front, rear and sides are beautified by original stencilling, all in black. Names in different typefaces, a faded date and a No. 8 adorn the bag’s face, whilst a No. 12 and 1896 feature on the back. The Bonfield emblem - a block-printed earthbound & celestial plough within a double border - is included, and some charming original patching is in evidence.
* Fully lined in a delightful brown & blue striped Irish linen.
* Internal pocket.
* Heavy-duty, antiqued brass zip closure - with suitably agricultural baling twine zip pull.
* Shoulder strap is a repurposed antique British military belt, circa 1900. It is naturally robust, and is made from dark brown leather, which we have fed. It’s of a generous width and comes with its original brass hardware, including D rings. The strap is fixed length, and was stitched into place using waxed linen thread.
* Dimensions: Height - 57.5cm, Length - 54cm, Depth - 8cm
