‘Bloodlines’, by Janet Tristram, is professionally hand-printed in England on natural linen. This joyful and elegant design is suitable for both upholstery and general soft furnishings - curtains, loose covers, etc.
Dreamed up as a wry celebration of 18th Century pastoral life, ‘Bloodlines’ appeals to both the eye and the funny bone.
Peasants toil in the fields, accompanied by a shepherdess and her flock and a debonair scarecrow in a tricorn hat. A beautiful hawthorn hedgerow pens them in, as if they were stock.
On either side of the hedge - but worlds away - are landed gentry indulging in sport and conversation (their utterances are all in Dorset dialect, from the quill of the celebrated Wessex poet, William Barnes).
There is a falconer atop his steed, a white hart, a couple of elegant ladies, a gentleman and his faithful hound, a swarthy drummer girl, a portly Harlequin riding a portly, talking pig and a 'White Cavalier’ (or, English bull terrier), also capable of speech.
